INDIANAPOLIS — In the all but empty Statehouse on Monday afternoon, local legislators met with members of the Wabash Township Board to discuss the ongoing concerns in the township and embattled Trustee Jennifer Teising.

The private meeting, which lasted for over two hours, was arranged by State Sen. Ron Alting, R-Lafayette, to “turn over every legal rock possible in trying to reinstate jobs that have been eliminated and ensure the successful reopening of the Wabash Township office building,” Alting said in a release late last week.

As previously reported by the Journal & Courier, Teising, who was indicted on 20 counts of theft related to her allegedly living outside of the district while receiving her township paycheck, sent an email last Monday informing the paid firefighters their jobs would be ending at the end of the month.
