A majority of voters approve of President Joe Biden, including nearly a third of Republicans, according to a new poll.
A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released to The Hill on Monday found that 61% of voters approve of Biden and 39% disapprove. The president’s early approval rating is notably higher than his predecessor’s. A similar poll taken in February 2017 showed an approval rating of 48% for former President Donald Trump.

While Biden’s approval rating is positive, the approval rate for the Democratic Party as a whole has increased. The poll found that 55% of respondents approve of his party, a 7-point increase since January. Approval of the Republican Party falls short of a majority, with 44% voicing their support.
One thing Americans are viewing in a better light is the economy, with 40% of voters saying it is on the right track, an increase from 29% in January.
There has also been a positive shift in how Americans view the country as a whole. While 47% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, the figure is a decline from the 63% who said the same in January. And the percentage of people believing the country is on the right track increased from 27% to 43%.
